We Will Force Akufo-Addo To Debate John Mahama - Sammy Gyamfi

National Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has stated that, they would force President Nana Akufo-Addo to debate John Mahama.

According to him in an interview on UTV with host, Yaa Kunamah, he does not understand why Akufo-Addo would not come for the debate and that when you go to America and UK they do debate. Debate is very essential because it deepens democracy. If you have served a country very well, why are you scared to defend that record” he said.

This is not the first time former President John Mahama and President Akufo-Addo would debate. In 2012, John Mahama was the President and he humbled himself for a debate. In 2016, IEA and GBC called for a debate, then it was President John Mahama and opposition leader Akufo-Addo but he availed himself that he wants to have the debate.

Well, he also stated that, Ghanaians should not allow President Nana Akufo-Addo to throw dust into their eyes and that if the debate would even come off in his residence, John Mahama would still come. Most of his promises he made to Ghanaians have not been fulfilled and he is telling him not to run away from the debate. “You cannot compare John Mahama’s achievement to that President Akufo-Addo, the gap is wide” he added.

The leadership of the house appointed Joseph Osei Owusu and Andrews Amoako Asiamah to serve as First and Second deputy speakers of parliament respectively. The Fomena MP was before the 2020 general elections ousted from parliament and sacked from the governing New Patriotic Party.

His sacking came as a result of his decision to still contest as MP instead of simply accepting defeat from the NPP contender that he lost to. He contested the December 2020 as an independent candidate which he won massively.
