Voter ID Registration: The Partisan Protocol At Some Registration Centers

In a weeks time, the new voters registration exercise would be over and there reports that some partisan protocols at some registration centers are extorting monies from people to cross the queue.

In the existence of the deadly coronavirus virus pandemic were people do are quite careful of not contracting the virus when they go to these registration centers register. In view of this, they wake up as early as 5am to go and join the queue to get registered enough to come home because most of centers are not observing the safety measures.

Well, information fredericknuetei.com gathered is that, some partisan protocols come to the centers with people to just cross the queue to register quickly and go away and this is quite disturbing as it is not fair on the side of the people. We are all Ghanaians and one people so why should one take an advantage over the other.

Some people also wake up as early as 3am to go and queue only for these party agents to bring in their people to come and register without being in the queue. When you even look at the people they bring in to cross the queue, they are young adults who are energetic enough to wake up to come and queue to register but they sit in their homes or wherever they are coming from just to come and cross the queue.

In the queue you would see the aged who have also queue to register and these party agents do not even have respect for them to the extent of just bringing their people to register. These party agents also take GH10 from these people just to register them quickly. Some of them have also been smuggled into the room where the photo is been taken and they register them there. We are pleading to the government to take an action on that. Thank you.

Security analyst, Col. Festus Aboagye (RTD) has warned the government to stop using soldiers as security.

Speaking in an interview on TV3, he said its not the role of the military being so mandatory to provide security to certain VVIP’s. According to him, in the law, whether in practice or in the law, its not the role of the military to drive civilians and not even ministers but may be the head of state and the vice.

For him, there might be a situation of emergencies like civil war and conflict in a part of the country but in the normal democratic governance that we find ourselves, military are not bodyguards for parliamentarians, ministers and lawyers. Please watch the video below:
