President Nana Akufo-Addo Cuts Sod For Two Projects, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital And La General Hospital

His Excellency the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has cut the sod for the construction of a 12 storey, 400-bed ultra-modern maternity and Gynecological centre at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital at a cost of €144 million.

The President also cut the sod for the construction of a 101-bed Nephrology and kidney transplant centre at Korle-Bu, which will cost some 38 million euros. Later in the day, he was at Labadi, where he cut the sod for the commencement of work for the redevelopment of the La General Hospital, which will cost €68 million

Parliament is preparing to go virtual – Speaker of Parliament, Alban Baghin

As the world is still finding ways to curb the spread of coronavirus, the Ghanaian Speaker of parliament, Hon. Alban Baghin has announced that, parliament will go virtual. 

In a video sighted by fredericknuetei.com, he said only one-third of parliamentarians would be allowed into the chamber whiles others join virtually. “We are not going to allow this kind of sitting again. Members who follow the process from their offices will only come into the Chamber when it’s their turn to debate”.

Joseph Osei Owusu and Andrews Amoako Asiamah to serve as First and Second Deputy Speakers of Parliament respectively

Member of Parliament for Fomena, Andrews Amoako Asiamah has been appointed as the second deputy speaker for the 8th parliament of the fourth Republic of Ghana. 

The leadership of the house appointed Joseph Osei Owusu and Andrews Amoako Asiamah to serve as First and Second deputy speakers of parliament respectively. The Fomena MP was before the 2020 general elections ousted from parliament and sacked from the governing New Patriotic Party. 

His sacking came as a result of his decision to still contest as MP instead of simply accepting defeat from the NPP contender that he lost to. He contested the December 2020 as an independent candidate which he won massively.
