Veteran Highlife singer, Pat Thomas, has opened up on how he composed Asante Kotoko’s anthem free of charge.

The vocalist and songwriter spoke to Andy Dosty on HitzFM’s Daybreak Hitz and narrated how it all happened, but to him its all about the love he has for the club. He said: “l was in Ivory Coast with the producer, l was recording for him and l had this in mind that l will one day record the Kotoko song.

Now, after the recording l did for the producer, he asked me to do another song, so l chose to do the Kotoko song. As soon as l finished, he took the tape and came to Ghana and left me in Ivory Coast because Kotoko was playing African Cup so he had the idea that he is going to press the record and sell it. He did that without my knowledge, that means he stole it and he came to Ghana to sell the cd’s.

It was sad but like didn’t bother because of the love for the team and up till today l have not gotten anything out of it but l don’t talk about it that much”. He further stated that it was through a friend of his who took him to the teams training grounds and the way he saw them train, he told his friend he loves the team. His friend then told him to compose a ing for them and that is how come he compose the song for them. Please listen to him in the video below.
