News reaching fredericknuetei.com has it that the Government of Ghana will reportedly offset more than half of the loan being offered to Member of Parliament to buy new vehicles.

Citi News reports that the government will pay about 60 per cent of the $28 million loan that has been tabled before parliament for approval. The loan agreement is for the purchase of 275 vehicles for members of the 8th Parliament of the fourth republic.

The Members of Parliament and Council of State members are expected to pay their loans within a 3 and half-year and four-year period. Apart from paying a huge chunk of the loan, the government will also pay the interest on the loan. “The repayment of the facility by the beneficiaries shall be made from deduction at source by the Parliamentary Service of Ghana to the NIB. The repayment by the beneficiaries and the Government of Ghana shall be made at the end of every month for the duration of the agreement,” reads part of the agreement per the Citi News report.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed George Akuffo Dampare as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).

He will be taking over from the outgoing IGP, James Oppong-Boanuh from August 1, 2021. According to a report filed by Citinews, he has been penned down for the job, and the Presidency will soon communicate officially to Ghanaians.

He will from August 1, 2021, serve in an acting capacity until he is confirmed in consultation with the Council of State to fully take over the position although the outgoing IGP had reached retirement age, he was given a two-year mandate to serve in that capacity before he exits.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced that one million more jobs will be created by his government over the next three years.

 He stated that the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta will outline the plans during the presentation of the mid-year budget review on Thursday, July 29, 2021. President Akufo-Addo made this revelation while addressing Muslim faithful at this year’s Eid-Al-Adha ceremony at the National Mosque.
