Future Shares Music Video For “Wait For U” Featuring Drake and Tems.

Rap would never sound, look, or feel the same after Future landed. If you want to know where the culture’s going next, just watch and listen to the iconic Atlanta rapper, singer, and producer. He went from cooking up beats in a basement for the Dungeon Family to generational superstardom with a presence looming from the streets all the way to The Met Gala. He literally brought trap into the White House as President Barack Obama rapped along to his quintuple-platinum banger “Jumpman” [with Drake].

He has collected dozens of multiplatinum certifications and reached rarified air as one of only a handful of rappers to achieve Diamond status for 2020’s “Life Is Good” [feat. Drake], affirming him as one of the best-selling acts of all-time. Not to mention, he carved out a place in the history books as “the first artist to release two Billboard Top 200 number ones in consecutive weeks.”

Along the way, he adorned the covers of Billboard, Clash, GQ, Rolling Stone, The Source, XXL and more in addition to delivering show-stopping performances on Saturday Night Live and Ellen. In 2019, he garnered a GRAMMY® Award in the category of “Best Rap Performance” for “King’s Dead” alongside Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, and James Blake. Kanye West sought him out as Executive Producer on the headline-making Donda 2 in addition to appearing on two tracks. He also pulled up on Gunna’s “pushin P” with Young Thug, appearing on yet another chart-busting banger. Future looks ahead again on his ninth full-length album, I Never Liked You, in 2022.

On the track, the stark beat grinds up against Ne-Yo’s signature show-stopping vocals. With a two-thousands-style throwback groove, he issues an invitation through his hypnotic high register, “All you gotta do is call me,” before he promises, “I got the bag, you got the body.” The visual—directed by singer, dancer, actress, and all-around creative Teyana Taylor—intercuts a head-spinning pole dance routine with footage of Ne-Yo performing to the camera, matching the song’s seductive streak.

“You Got the Body” paves the way for his anxiously awaited eighth full-length album, Self Explanatory, arriving July 15th. Pre-order/pre-save the album HERE.

Ne-Yo, the three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning R&B hitmaker, iconic songwriter, actor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, has sold a cumulative 20+ million adjusted albums worldwide. His debut single, 2005’s “So Sick,” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified quadruple Platinum. Since then, the Motown Records/Compound Entertainment recording artist has racked up a collection of hits including “Sexy Love,” “Closer,” “Because of You,” “Miss Independent,” and “Push Back” [feat. Bebe Rexha and Stefflon Don]. Three of his albums have entered SoundScan’s Top Current Albums chart at No. 1.

Ne-Yo has also proven to be as powerful with his pen as he is in the studio and on stage. The Las Vegas native quickly became known as a go-to hitmaker, penning bangers like Rihanna’s “Unfaithful,” “Russian Roulette,” and “Take a Bow,” along with Beyoncé’s 2006 breakup anthem “Irreplaceable” and songs for such artists as Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Carrie Underwood, and Celine Dion, among others.

Ne-Yo’s film and television credits include NBC’s World of Dance, Empire, Stomp the Yard, Save the Last Dance, Battle: Los Angeles, George Lucas’ Red Tails, The Wiz Live! and Starz’ Step Up: High Water. Most recently, Ne-Yo released a slew of new singles – “Stay Down” [feat. Yung Bleu], “Don’t Love Me,” and “You Got the Body” – paving the way for his anxiously awaited eighth album, Self Explanatory, due out July 15, 2022.

He initially set the stage for the record with “Don’t Love Me,” which gathered over 1.8 million Spotify streams and over 2 million YouTube views on the music video. Earning critical acclaim, Vibe hailed the visual as “his most cinematic thus far” and predicted, “‘Don’t Love Me’ sets the tone for Ne-Yo’s long-awaited new album.” REVOLT noted, “The R&B veteran continues his longtime run of penning songs with love-related truths.”

The fan favorite single “Stay Down” [feat. Yung Bleu] notably generated 3.1 million Spotify streams and over 3 million YouTube views on the music video. Inciting critical applause, Rated R&B proclaimed, “Ne-Yo alluded to cooking up some fire, and his new single ‘Stay Down’ featuring Yung Bleu is a strong indication of that work,” and Ebony spoke to him about the track in an extensive profile.

Popping up everywhere, Ne-Yo recently graced the cover of Fault Magazine for an intimate in-depth feature and gave a sensual performance of “Don’t Love Me” for COLORS. Stay tuned for more from Ne-Yo!
