FREDERICK NUETEI WRITES: The Selfish Ghanaian

The height of a man is always dependent on many factors, and as such, one must reason behind personal interest especially during critical moments in ones life.

It is sad to see our very own people add to the Scars that brings much sorrow and grief to us. Sometimes, I’m tempted to say that, people in this country always pray for misfortunes in other to acquire wealth out of the situation.

At a crucial point like this, where the world is restlessly seeking for an antidote to arrest the pandemic confronted with, our people are rather busy looking for avenue to cheat their fellow Ghanaians.

We’re loosing The Humanity Side Of this Whole Pandemic: Few Cars Are In Town So Some “TroTro” Drivers Are Taking Advantage Of the Situation to charge unreasonable fares from Passengers.

Some Charging ₵5 from Lapaz to Kasoa. And everyone pays it even if they’ll alight on the way. Some also mixing all kinds of things to represent hand sanitizer, just to make money at the expense of our lives. This is where we are as a country and at the end of it all, this same people will be calling on God to provide for their needs.

I believe it’s time we do what is right even when we feel no one is watching. Corruption i think should be given it’s true definition and at that point in time, we will all realize that taking advantage of someone’s inability to make wealth is also a corrupt act.

It’s time to act as citizens if only we want to preserve a better future for generations to come. Let’s keep in mind that “posterity will remind us one day”.

However, Ghana has so far recorded ninety three cases with four deaths.

Stay safe to avoid the spread of the virus.

The issue with social distancing is a problem at some centers, though according to the the world health organization (WHO) the deadly Coronavirus highly spread when one comes into contact with an infected person. We might wash our hands and use the hand sanitizers, wear the face marks but if the protocol on social distancing is not observed at it’s highest level, people will perhaps get the virus without knowing they have because social distancing at some registration centers wasn’t looked at or observed.

It would be recalled that, the coronavirus has now spread in some senior high schools and some parents and pressure groups are calling on the Government to close down the schools across the country. In his view, if the Government should close down schools it would not be a good thing as majority of the students are having the virus. There are over 250,000 students across the country and if the Government should allow them to come home just imagine what would happen. They are going to infect other people and it would be disastrous. Health experts say it is not advisable for them to come home so he does not agree with pressure groups who are mountain pressure on the Government to close down schools.

Please let us continue to protect ourselves by observing the safety precautionary measures ie washing of hands with soap under running water, wear your face mask when stepping out and observe social distancing. Please watch him in the video below. Thank you. #staysafe
