Health Minister Hon Kweku Agyeman-Manu

Health Minister, Mr Kweku Agyeman-Manu has disclosed that thirty one out of one hundred and fifty two persons who were receiving treatment after contracting coronavirus have recovered.

This brings the total number of people who have recovered from the disease in Ghana to 33. Five persons have, however, died after contracting the COVID-19.

According to the Health Minister, they just don’t discharge, they keep testing for about two or three times for you to show negative before they do the discharge. The discharge is not allowing you to come freely outside, they go visit your home, look at other factors and try to put you into self quarantine though you are okay so that they continue monitoring you for the next week or two to make sure your are okay before they allow you to go free. He said.

As at yesterday there was only one person who was discharge at Kumasi but he needs to check on it as to where these people have been discharged. There are a lot of them in Accra and these number he does not have now. He added.

Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ghana stands at 152 with five deaths as of March 30, 2020.

The issue with social distancing is a problem at some centers, though according to the the world health organization (WHO) the deadly Coronavirus highly spread when one comes into contact with an infected person. We might wash our hands and use the hand sanitizers, wear the face marks but if the protocol on social distancing is not observed at it’s highest level, people will perhaps get the virus without knowing they have because social distancing at some registration centers wasn’t looked at or observed.

In his view, if the Government should close down schools it would not be a good thing as majority of the students are having the virus. There are over 250,000 students across the country and if the Government should allow them to come home just imagine what would happen. They are going to infect other people and it would be disastrous. Health experts say it is not advisable for them to come home so he does not agree with pressure groups who are mountain pressure on the Government to close down schools.

Please let us continue to protect ourselves by observing the safety precautionary measures ie washing of hands with soap under running water, wear your face mask when stepping out and observe social distancing. Please watch him in the video below. Thank you. #staysafe
