In an interview with Starr FM, the head of communications at the FA confirmed the amount received by each player.

“The Black Stars players were paid an appearance fee of 20,000 dollars each, they didn’t earn any bonus because they did not win a single game,” he said on Starr FM.

According to the former sports journalist, the Ghana Football Association budgeted an amount of $4 million for the tournament, which included expenses for camping in Doha. “We sent a budget of 4million dollars to the Sports Ministry for the Afcon but the GFA can’t tell how much we spent, only the Sports Ministry can tell us,” he added.

The Black Stars had their worst ever nations cup after failing to win a single game in Group C, losing two and drawing one. The performance of the team led to the sacking of Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac, and the FA is in search of a new trainer.
