A HUMBLE APPEAL TO THE GOVERNMENT-Maxwell .R. Adaletey

As a Public Relations Practitioner, I believe the image of every country needs to be a key point to consider in every decision to be made irrespective of the circumstance confronted with.

It is indeed a time our country and the world never prepared for, and as such decisions will be made in haste. However, in making decisions on behalf of citizens, let’s also not forget to include the private sectors and individuals who may have relevant ideas to help manage the situation.

My message to fellow Ghanaians is very simple. The freedom we see and enjoy today can only be sustained if we adhere to simple instructions and measures put in place to help arrest this global pandemic we face today.

I also want to appeal to the government and individuals in the IT areas to help us with relevant apps to fight the Covid 19.

I believe in order to help the State fight the spread of Covid 19, a Mobile app Test kit should be developed for the general public to access, this will help carry out personal checks and if tested positive, one will immediately report to health facility for treatment. Or better still, a location detector be activated on it, monitored by a health center and once a test proves positive, the center will be alerted and an emergency ambulance assigned to pick the victim to an isolation Center. Let’s not wait to loose love ones before we act. #A call to be citizens, Not Spectators. God bless us all.

The issue with social distancing is a problem at some centers, though according to the the world health organization (WHO) the deadly Coronavirus highly spread when one comes into contact with an infected person. We might wash our hands and use the hand sanitizers, wear the face marks but if the protocol on social distancing is not observed at it’s highest level, people will perhaps get the virus without knowing they have because social distancing at some registration centers wasn’t looked at or observed.

It would be recalled that, the coronavirus has now spread in some senior high schools and some parents and pressure groups are calling on the Government to close down the schools across the country. In his view, if the Government should close down schools it would not be a good thing as majority of the students are having the virus. There are over 250,000 students across the country and if the Government should allow them to come home just imagine what would happen. They are going to infect other people and it would be disastrous. Health experts say it is not advisable for them to come home so he does not agree with pressure groups who are mountain pressure on the Government to close down schools.

Please let us continue to protect ourselves by observing the safety precautionary measures ie washing of hands with soap under running water, wear your face mask when stepping out and observe social distancing. Please watch him in the video below. Thank you. #staysafe
