News reaching fredericknuetei.com indicates that a 16-year-old boy, Abdul Garfar Kasim has been hit by a stray bullet shortly after the Eid-ul-Adha prayers.

According to a report filed by Graphiconline, the unfortunate incident happened at Aboabo Number 2 in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region after he was hit by a stray bullet. Garfar was pronounced dead on arrival at the Manhyia Government Hospital with another person who sustained gunshot wounds currently on admission at the same hospital. An eyewitness at the scene of the accident said a group of gun-wielding young men who were brandishing their weapons as part of the festivities fired shots into the air which mistakenly hit the young boy.

A relative to the deceased, Sulemana Umar, said, as soon as they closed from the mosque, Garfar, who was with him and the rest of the family could not be found only to later hear that he had been shot and killed. “…. We later got a call from a neighbour that Garfar has been killed by a stray bullet,” he said. The body of the deceased young boy has however been handed over to the family to be buried in accordance with Islamic tenets.

Thousands of disgruntled Ghanaians have joined the ongoing FixTheCountry protest today, August 4, to demand accountability, good governance, and better living conditions from the ruling government.

The FixTheCountry campaign, which began in May, has garnered massive attention and support since Ghanaian youth took to social media to highlight inadequacies in the country. Although the government responded to the aggrieved youth by outlining initiatives it has implemented, including the Nation Builders’ Corp (NABCO), National Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP) to build the human capital in the country, many still think the government has failed to deliver.

As such, Ghanaian youth are demonstrating today, August 4, to demand better living conditions from the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government. Ghana’s president, Nana Ado Dankwa Akufo Addo has congratulated Ghanaian featherweight boxer, Samuel Takyi for ending the country’s medal drought by winning Bronze at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The 20-year-old ended Ghana’s 29-year wait for a silverware at the Olympic Games after finishing the competition with a bronze medal. In a post on social media by the President, sighted by fredericknuetei.com, the first gentleman of the state stated how proud he is of the fighter.
