1. At age 16, genius Merqury converted his father’s sound system into a virtual radio broadcast system, using a domestic AV sender to transmit radio signals from his room to his friends in his neighborhood.
2. In 2007, he became the first indigenous presenter to host a music chart show on national television with the ‘Sound City Top 10’, which aired on GTV from 2007 to 2009.
3. In 2008, he formally began his journey into radio broadcasting when he became the host of Highway 102 – the drive time, late afternoon show of Choice 102.3FM to wide acclaim. Following his successful stint at Choice FM, he went on to host the late afternoon drive at Atlantis Radio 87.9FM and following which he moved to Hitz 103.9FM, a position he holds to date.
4. Known as Ghana’s Finest Hypeman, he has performed on same stage with the likes of Jamaican superstar Shaggy, New York rappers Fat Joe and Nas, Nigeria’s D’Banj, 2 Face and P-Square, Davido, Ladipoe, Joe Boy, among others.

5. In 2021, Merqury Quaye hosted the first edition of Wildaland Festival, held at Shai Hills in Ghana. The event featured top artistes including Davido, Sarkodie, Ladipoe and Joe Boy.
6. In 2012, instituted the first and only national award scheme for DJs; the Ghana DJ Awards – which awards over 35 outstanding DJs annually.
7. In 2017, Merqury led a campaign called ‘Pay the DJ’; a movement demanding fair and equitable remuneration for DJs.
8. He created the Ghana DJ Clinic, with the express purpose of empowering DJs be offering capacity building, networking, mentorship, business support and access to finance and new markets to DJs.

9. Merqury Quaye is Ghana’s first radio/TV presenter to create a virtual community. The fandom is known as the Turn Up Army.
10. He is a native of Prampram, origin of ET Mensah and Sam George.
11. He hosts an entertainment show known as “Hot Picks Show” on Ghana’s biggest media network, Multimedia’s Joy Prime TV.
12. In 2020, during lockdown, Merqury Quaye created an opportunity for TV viewers to participate in his entertainment show live on TV via video conferencing platform, Zoom, making him the first person to use Zoom in such manner in Ghana. A number of TV shows have emulated the concept since.

5 times VGMA nominee and Ghana’s best rapper Amerado is once again exhibiting his lyrical prowess in his new rap song titled ‘Obiaa Boa”.
Obiaa Boa, a Twi phrase directly translated as “Everyone is lying” is a full rap song in which the artiste sends information to every other rapper who claims he Amerado does not deserve the title.
Amerado is also known to be one of the few rappers in Ghana who blends the indigenous culture in this rap and the Bra Shizzle-directed video was not an exception.
